USKA is sharing this partner cultural opportunity for members who would like to experience a reenactment of Korea’s historic gwageo civil-service examination. The event is hosted and organised by the institutions named on the official poster; it is not organised by USKA.
Event details
- Date and time: Monday, 5 October 2026 at 2:00 PM KST
- Venue: Sungkyunkwan — Bicheondang and Myeongnyundang, Seoul
- Eligibility: anyone aged 18 or older, regardless of Korean proficiency
- Capacity: first 300 applicants
- Entry fee: ₩5,000
- Format: choose a beginner or intermediate topic on site; topics are announced on the day
- Provided on site: traditional robe, scholar’s hat, and writing supplies
Awards
The poster lists 33 winners and prizes worth ₩10.2 million in total. The grand prize is a laptop worth approximately ₩3 million. Participation gifts are also included; cash awards are paid after applicable taxes.
