Celebrating Ugandan holidays abroad

Living in Korea does not put Ugandan identity on pause. Community occasions can be simple — a shared meal, music, a flag at a picnic, a call home, or a gathering where children hear Luganda and other familiar languages around them.

Make room for both home and Korea

• Mark important Ugandan dates with a small gathering, a message to family, or a shared meal.
• Invite new students and newcomers who may be celebrating far from their support network for the first time.
• Use regional visits and community gatherings to share food, music, games, stories, and practical support.
• Respect that members observe faith, family, and national occasions in different ways — community should make space for all of them.

Keep it practical
