Kyamanywa Hamza is President — and a dinner to thank Joshua

On Sunday 16 August 2026 members of the Ugandans In South Korea Association sat down together for a community dinner. The table was long, the platters were shared, and the reason for the evening was simple: to thank Dr. Ssempungu Joshua Kirabo for his service as President.

Joshua was elected at the Annual General Meeting on 15 February 2026. In four months the committee ran regional visits, took Team Uganda to KAFCON, and held the July town hall. On 11 July the Executive Committee wrote to members that he was stepping down, and that Vice President Kyamanywa Hamza would carry the work forward.

What changed on the leadership page

Hamza is now President of USKA. He remains a principal officer of the 2026–2028 committee. The Vice Presidency is vacant until the committee fills it.

Joshua is not removed from the site. His profile stays on the Leadership page as a past officer, term February–August 2026. That is how this association treats every completed term: the person remains, the status changes.

The dinner

The 16 August gathering was a members’ dinner, not a formal assembly. People who had worked with Joshua through the first half of the year ate together and said thank you in person. Photographs from that table are below.

The students’ get-together that had been listed for the same weekend was postponed. A new student date will be published when Student Affairs sets it.

Programmes continue: Bosan on 12 September, Chuseok on 25 September, and the rest of the 2026 calendar. Questions for the Executive Committee go through the same official channels as before.
