Picnic by the Han River — USKA at Banpo Hangang Park, 1 August

On Saturday 1 August 2026 the Ugandans In South Korea Association spent the evening at Banpo Hangang Park. From 5:00 PM until dusk, members sat on picnic mats along the south bank of the Han, shared food, played Ludo and Matatu, and talked — a simple community picnic after a busy mid-year of regional visits, football, and the July town hall.

Banpo is an easy meeting point for people coming in from across Seoul, and the park gives families and friends room to spread out. The official poster invited the community for games, music and snacks. What arrived was exactly that: two circles of mats on the grass, a Ludo board in the middle of one group, and the river behind the trees.

What the evening looked like

Members arrived as the light softened over the river. Mats went down first, then food, then games. One group settled into Ludo; others talked, ate, and watched the park fill with weekend walkers. Children and adults sat together. There was no stage and no speech — the point was to be in the same place, outdoors, as one community.

The gathering sits in the 2026 calendar between the Songtan regional picnic in late June and the coastal evening at Bongpo Beach two weeks later. These open-air meetings are how members who do not see each other in the week still belong to the same association.
