Overview
USKA successfully coordinated Uganda’s participation in KAFCON 2026 (Korea Africa Cup of Nations), held on Sunday 24 May 2026 in Pyeongtaek City, Republic of Korea. The tournament brought together 16 African nations competing across four groups in a celebration of African unity, culture, and sportsmanship.
Uganda participated in Group D alongside South Africa, Liberia, and Tanzania.

2. Liberia — played 3, won 1, drew 1, lost 1 — 4 points
3. Uganda — played 3, won 0, drew 3, lost 0 — 3 points
4. Tanzania — played 3, won 0, drew 1, lost 2 — 1 point
Uganda finished 3rd in Group D after recording three draws from three matches. The overall winners of KAFCON 2026 were Cameroon, who defeated South Africa in the final.
Appreciation
The Directorate of Sport & Entertainment extends sincere appreciation to: all Team Uganda players and technical staff; all Ugandans in South Korea, especially those who turned up in numbers in Pyeongtaek City and those who followed and supported online; the Executive Committee of USKA led by Mr Joshua Kirabo Ssempungu and Josephine Nakitende; the Songtan Ugandan community who hosted players; Skylar and his media team; supporters and well-wishers; and event organisers and stakeholders — for the unity, discipline, and support demonstrated throughout the tournament.
Special appreciation goes to all Ugandans who traveled, supported online, mobilised resources, and proudly represented the Ugandan spirit during KAFCON 2026.
Beyond football
The tournament demonstrated the power of sport in bringing communities together, promoting African unity, strengthening cultural exchange, and positively representing Uganda in Korea.
As Uganda prepares to co-host AFCON 2027 under the “Pamoja” banner, Team Uganda’s participation in KAFCON 2026 reflects the growing commitment of Ugandans in South Korea to contribute positively to sports diplomacy and community building.
